Project AERO Standards

Project AERO (American Education Reaches Out) is a collaborative project of the Near East South Asia Council of Overseas Schools (NESA) and the Council for Basic Education (CBE). Its goal is to provide a framework of academic standards appropriate for American schools overseas. The standards are based on CBE's Standards of Excellence.
While most Project AERO Standards that are applicable to MAIS ZOOM are likely to be found in the Grades 5 and 8 benchmarks of the Scientific Inquiry and The Living Environment sections of the Science Standards and in the Technology Standards, other AERO Standards may also be applicable to ZOOM. Therefore, the Project AERO Standards are included in their entirety so that the user may select those standards and benchmarks most appropriate to her/his classroom.

The science standards are divided into 4 major areas: Scientific Inquiry, The Physical Setting, The Living Environment, and Human Organisms and Society. The standards are further subdivided into benchmark objectives for Grades 2, 5, 8, and 12.

The mathematics standards are 11 in number. Objectives may be viewed for each of the 11 for grades 3, 5, 8, and 12.

The English/language arts standards are divided into 3 major sub-groupings: reading, writing, and listening and speaking. The AERO standards for each may be viewed for grades 2, 5, 8, and 12.

There are 3 major standards for Project AERO Technology. Standards are identified for grades 2, 5, 8, and 12.
