Digital Microscopy Leadership - Page 2

Here Cheri refers to an overview of assignments written previously on the board.

She then described the organisms in her “ZOOM ZOO;” organisms including Protozoans, Daphnia, Planaria, Hydra, and organisms found in pond water. All these critters, plus pipettes, forceps, slides, and coverslips, are assembled on a ZOO Table located at the front of the classroom.

Cheri then instructed the students on how to capture live organisms, place them on a slide, and observe them with the DigiScope.

Team members then begin to make their own slides at the ZOOM ZOO.

Here students use pipettes to sample the ZOO critters…

…and make slides to be observed with the DigiScope.

ZOOM ZOO recording sheets were made available for teams to record their observations and add information from other resources.

After making slides, students place them on the DigiScopes for viewing on their laptop screen.

Success brought smiles!

Cheri assists students who need help.

With Cheri’s guidance, students worked in teams…

…making interesting discoveries about Daphnia.
