National Education Technology Standards (NETS)

The National Education Technology Standards (NETS) Projects include standards related to the use of technology in the classroom. Activities and expectations included in ZOOM, e.g. responsible use of technological devices (DigiScopes), use of technology tools to promote creativity, use of a variety of media and formats to communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences, and others are applicable and potentially useful to ZOOM participants. Two sites are included for your perusal. The first is the NETS site that provides an overall view of NETS. Second is a specific reference to the NETS for Students, Curricula and Content Area Standards, Technology Foundation Standards for All Students.
NETS and the Technology Foundation Standards both seek to prepare technologically capable students. ZOOM shares their goals:

To live, learn, and work successfully in an increasingly complex and information-rich society, students must be able to use technology effectively. Within an effective educational setting, technology can enable students to become:

Capable information technology users
Information seekers, analyzers, and evaluators
Problem solvers and decision makers
Creative and effective users of productivity tools
Communicators, collaborators, publishers, and producers
Informed, responsible, and contributing citizens

Project ZOOM is designed to move MAIS students toward those worthy goals.
